The DS Audio ES-001 is the world’s first eccentricity detection stabilizer (patent pending).
The overall jitter of the entire system can only be significantly reduced if the disc eccentricity is corrected.
With an eccentricity width of 0.34 mm, even though there is no inherent wobbling effect (speed error) produced by the stage used, it reaches approximately 0.15% (WTD RMS) on the innermost grooves of the record’s playing surface. In fact, the average speed error value, even for top quality turntables, is around 0.008%. These factors combined can result in an overall wow and flutter value 20 times worse than the platinum alone.
The unstable rotation causes pitch fluctuations throughout the frequency range and if the eccentricity of the record is not corrected, the cartridge and tonearm will be forced to sway from side to side following the furrow. This impairs the stylus’ ability to follow the groove accurately and results in poorer sound and an unstable sound image.
As a result, the listener will not be able to experience the full potential of even the highest quality systems. By correcting this eccentricity as much as possible, you will be able to exploit the maximum performance potential of your equipment.
