Synergistic Research Acoustic Art Treatment Set : Acoustical Treatment

Synergistic’s ART (Acoustic Room Treatment) is a unique 5 piece room treatment kit . The central unit, called “Vibratron”  consists of a two part metal hemisphere with a metal disk placed between the halves, the whole assembly somewhat resembling the planet Saturn. A vertical stack of magnets tops off this assembly. The Vibratron is placed on the front wall båehind the speakers and centered between them.

Next is the “Bass Station, ”  which is a wood platform on very sharp spikes supporting a metal “bell.” The Bass Station should be placed on the floor, near the back wall beneath the Vibratron and also centered between the loudspeakers. (A second Bass Station in a rear corner behind the listener can also be beneficial, but this second Bass Station is not included in the standard package.)

Finally the three “Satellites”  are wood triangles with flat tops that mount on the wall. A holder protrudes through the top of the satellites, and each holds another of these (slightly smaller) metal “bells” in place. Place two between the first reflection points and the point which would be midway between the speaker position and the listening position (final positioning by ear), and one on the wall behind the listener, up higher than the other satellites. (Additional Satellites can be used to further enhance the space by placement on the wall behind the speakers near the corners. Not included in the standard package.

The concept may seem strange, but the applied theories of “sympathetic resonance” are not entirely new. But the A.R.T. is the best and most powerful product of its type to date. The impact on frequency extension and control, tonality, realistic harmonics, imaging and soundstaging are not subtle.
